Welcome to the Town of Fort Erie website “Election” pages.
Every four years, the Town Clerk is required to conduct elections for municipal and school board offices in accordance with theMunicipal Elections Act, 1996.
On Monday, October 27, 2014, eligible voters in the Town of Fort Erie will go to the polls to choose between candidates for Mayor, Ward Councillor, Regional Councillor and School Board Trustee.
The persons elected will serve in the office to which they are elected for a four year term commencing December 1, 2014 and ending on November 30, 2018. During that time these individuals will make decisions that will directly affect your future and that of the community. Those persons elected to Town Council or Regional Council will determine the community’s goals and objectives for the next four years, the services and programs offered by the municipality and the level of taxation and spending required to meet those needs. Some decisions will have impacts well beyond the four year term. School trustees will make similar decisions regarding board budgets, policies and programs that will directly affect the parents and youth of our community.
In the 2010 Fort Erie municipal elections, only 42% of eligible voters turned out to vote. The race for Mayor was determined by only 5 votes. This is clear evidence that every vote does count. Make your vote count in 2014 by making an informed decision and by casting your ballot on October 27, 2014 or at one of the advance polls.
