1852 - Bertie Township Council passes a motion to petition the Governor General for separation of the Counties of Lincoln and Welland. (FEHM Files, Bertie Township Council Minutes)


1866 - A Canadian intelligence agent working in Buffalo sends a telegram to the British Consul reporting the presence of “many strange military men” in the city. (Fighting for Canada: Seven Battles 1758–1945, Donald F. Graves, ed., 2000, p. 141)


1927 - Kenneth (Scottie) Millar of Fort Erie becomes the first foot passenger to cross the Peace Bridge. He crossed both ways while playing the bagpipes. (FEHM Files)
